Police thwart suspected porch invader's bike-bound escape

The suspect was charged with possession of property obtained by crime in addition to break-and-enter

A 30-year-old is facing multiple charges after 911 operators received a report of a break-and-enter over the weekend.

Around 11 a.m. on Aug. 19, 911 communications received a report of a break-and-enter at a residence in the 0-100 block of Borron Avenue.

The report was that an individual entered a porch and stole a wallet before fleeing the scene on a bike.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded and located a person matching the description of the suspect in the 400 block of Bruce Street where they arrested the individual.

A search of the person found the accused to be in possession of the victim's licence.

Randy Ingram, 30, has been charged with:

  • break-and-enter – commit an indictable offence
  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • breach of probation (x8)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 30, 2023.
