Prescription medication taken during armed robbery

On Jan. 15, 2018, officers with the Break and Enter Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24-year-old Jason Hampleman of Wellington Street East for robbery.

It is alleged that on Jan. 10, 2018 just before 7:30 p.m., the accused and another male forced their way into the apartment of a male known to them while wearing masks and armed with a knife and stick. The accused threatened the victim and took his prescription medication before fleeing the scene.

Officers were able to identify the accused and he was taken into custody on Jan. 15, 2018. He has been charged with:

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • One count of wearing a disguise with intent
  • One count of assault with a weapon
  • One count of breach of probation

He was held for bail court and the investigation is continuing.
