Police search for gun in Queen West investigation (photos added)

Pedestrians, motorists asked to avoid the area

At approximately 1:15 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call at 629 Queen Street West regarding an unsecured firearm.

Two individuals left the residence without incident, police told media at the scene. It is unknown at this time if charges are pending.

Officers are currently searching the home for the firearm in question. Police believe there may be a third person involved.

Queen Street West will remain closed to traffic until the residence is secure and the search is complete.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are currently responding to a call for service in the 600 block of Queen Street West. At this time the street has been closed and traffic in the area is restricted.

We ask that all pedestrians and motorists remain away from this area until officers have resolved the situation.
