The parade staging area on Queen Street East between Elizabeth and Church Streets will be closed starting at 4:30 p.m.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the parade route from Church Street to Gore Street will be closed to traffic.

Full details are outlined in the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service release below:

The Rotary Santa Claus Parade will take place this Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. We are reminding community members there will be road closures in the downtown area to allow the parade to run smoothly.

Starting at 4:30 p.m. Queen Street East will be closed from Elizabeth Street to Church Street. This area will be used as a staging area for the parade. Lower Church Street will also be closed from 5:30 until 7 p.m.

Queen Street East is the main route for the parade so it will be closed between Church Street and Gore Street starting at 5:30 p.m. Queen Street East will re-open to traffic following the parade at approximately 8 p.m.

To provide a safe parade route, there will be no parking on Queen Street East from Church Street to Andrew Street starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. Any vehicle found parked along the parade route after the designated time will be towed from the area.

People driving to the downtown area to watch the parade should expect delays as we are expecting traffic to be above daily levels.

After the parade is complete, the temporary parking restriction will end, allowing the lawful parking of vehicles in the area.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation to help us to enjoy this joyful event safely.
