YOUNG OFFENDERS ARRESTED FOR INTERNET THREATS
On November 24th, City Police Services was notified of e-mail threats directed toward the safety of students at a local elementary school. School officials were advised of the threats and appropriate measures were taken to assure the safety of students.

In the meantime, a police computer crime specialist was able to trace the e-mails back to a local residence where police seized a computer system. As a result of the investigation, three young offenders have been charged with making threats against the students of the school. They have been released to appear in court at a later date.

The Sault Police Service was quoted as saying all internet correspondence can be traced back to its source. Police have adopted zero tolerance in regard to internet threats against schools, students and teachers. The police computer crime specialist is trained and equipped to track down perpetrators of these crimes and those apprehended will be prosecuted.
