41 year old Dale Swanson of 680 Portage Lane was arrested by City Police overnight and charged with impaired driving, consume over the legal limit, theft of a motor vehicle and 2 counts of breaching a Probation order for failing to keep the peace and

41 year old Dale Swanson of 680 Portage Lane was arrested by City Police overnight and charged with impaired driving, consume over the legal limit, theft of a motor vehicle and 2 counts of breaching a Probation order for failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged Mr. Swanson came upon a Toyota Camry at a residence in the west end which the owner had running to warm up. Mr. Swanson got in the vehicle and attempted to drive himself home. The vehicle was reported stolen by the owner and shortly thereafter located by Police with Mr. Swanson driving. Upon further investigation officers determined Mr. Swanson was impaired as well. He will be appearing in Provincial Court January 20th 2014.

The City Police received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding people riding their bikes on the roadways the past few days and narrowly missing coming into contact with these cyclists due to the icy road conditions as a result of the extremely cold weather. Motorists are reminded to use extra care and caution as the Collision Reporting Centre has received an increased amount of reports the past week. It is also recommended that persons riding bicycles seek alternate forms of transportation if available and if not, they too are reminded to use extra care and be more attentive.

On the 14th of December at approximately 4:00 am, members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Drug Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, Emergency Services Unit and Canine Unit executed a search warrant at 32 Blucher St. During the course of the search, officers located packaged cocaine, digital scales, cutting agents, drug paraphernalia, 2 cans of pepper spray and an undisclosed amount of money. As a result, 35 year old Berni-Lynn Nadon and 28 year old Trevor Seaton of that address were charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon in contravention of a court order. Nadon was further charged with possession of cannabis resin and also breaching a condition of a recognizance for not notifying a change of address. Seaton was further charged with breaching a condition of his probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and theft under $5000 as well another breach of the same condition resulting from a warrant for his arrest dated the 25th of August 2013. Both parties appeared in WASH Court earlier today and were remanded for Bail Court on December 16th.

On Friday members of the Drug Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, Emergency Serices and the Canine Unit executed a warrant at the residence of 30 year old Brent Garson and 26 year old Samantha Gaudenzi. Officers located cocaine, morphine, percocet, oxycodone, oxycontin, hydromorphone and heroin. Garson was also in possession of a prohibited weapon and a stolen Mercury boat motor was also located during the search. Both persons will appear in WASH Court this morning.

At 1:30 this morning a patrol officer arrested 19 year old Michael Doyle for mischief over $5000. It is alleged that Doyle did damage to the hood and windshield of a vehicle parked at the rear of 654 Queen Street East. Doyle will appear in court on January 20th at 9:00am
