At 3:30 p.m. on February 12, 2016, city police arrested 55-year-old Michael Sweeney of Albert Street East. It’s alleged that Sweeney attended at Walmart on Bay Street and stole merchandise valued at $36.

A break in was reported to a residence in the 200 block of St. Georges Ave. W. from overnight. A quantity of power tools were taken

At 3:30 p.m. on February 12, 2016, city police arrested 55-year-old Michael Sweeney of Albert Street East. It’s alleged that Sweeney attended at Walmart on Bay Street and stole merchandise valued at $36. In addition the accused was on a probation order with conditions that he keep the peace and be of good behavior.  Sweeney was charged with theft under $5000 and one count of breach of probation, he will be appearing in court on 14 March 2016.

City Police responded to two different occurrences overnight involving intoxicated persons involved in disturbances. Both males required medical treatment due to exposure to cold. One male was located with the assistance of K-9 and was found with no jacket or shoes.  With the recent cold snap extra caution should be exercised to prevent cold related injuries.  City Police would like to urge the public to check on those vulnerable family members or friends who may need extra care during this weather event.
