On the 14th of February at approximately 2:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to Joe’s No Frills on Second Line West regarding a shoplifting complaint.

On the 14th of February at approximately 2:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to Joe’s No Frills on Second Line West regarding a shoplifting complaint. It is alleged that 26-year-old Morgan Periard had entered the store, placed a number of items in her purse, and left without making any attempt to pay. She is charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will be appearing in court on March 17.

A resident in the 200 block of East Balfour Street reported that an iPad mini was stolen from her vehicle. The vehicle was unlocked at the time.

A 22-year-old male was arrested and will be appearing in WASH (Weekend and Statutory Holiday) court this morning. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of February 15, the accused assaulted his girlfriend by repeatedly punching her in the head. The female received non life threatening injuries that required medical attention. It is also alleged that at the time of the offence the accused had been drinking and was on a bail court release document with a condition that he abstain from the consumption of alcohol. He is charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of a recognizance of bail.
