A break and enter was reported to a business on Yates Avenue. The entry was gained between 6:00 p.m. on 25 Jan 2013 and 9:00 a.m. on 26 Jan 2013. A tool chest and a quantity of tools were taken.
A break and enter was reported via a back door to a residence on McAllen St. It is unknown what was taken at this time.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to eight motor vehicle collisions in addition to those reported to the Collision Reporting Centre. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries from a collision in front of 364 Second Line West.
A truck was broken into overnight on Fournier Rd. and prescription medication taken.
Arrests
45 year old Michel Joseph Portelance of 12 Herrick St. was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography. On the 23 of January 2013 officers attended at the above residence in regards to a complaint of found child pornography, as a result a computer and a USB flash drive were seized. A search conducted on these items revealed the possession of child pornography images. He was arrested on the 25th of January and held for WASH court.
A 23 year old male was charged with one count of assault in regards to domestic incident. He is being held for WASH court.
30 year old Matthew Robert Lanktree of 524 Goulais Ave. attended at the police station on January25 2013.A records check revealed an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with an Undertaking. He was subsequently arrested and charged. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 4 2013.
26 year old Jean-Claude Paquette was arrested and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused punched the victim in the face. The victim required medical attention but the injuries are thought to be minor in nature. He was also on probation at the time of the assault and was charged accordingly and given a court date of March 4 2013.
