Early this morning Patrol Officers attended to the area of Queen St. E and Carmen’s Way regarding a vehicle in the ditch. The lone occupant in the vehicle was attempting to reverse his vehicle out of the ditch.

Early this morning Patrol Officers attended to the area of Queen St. E and Carmen’s Way regarding a vehicle in the ditch. The lone occupant in the vehicle was attempting to reverse his vehicle out of the ditch. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol emitting from his person. As a result, the male was arrested for impaired driving and being over the legal limit. 23-year-old Kenneth Beach of Curran Dr. will be appearing in Provincial Court on April 13.

Early this morning City Police arrested a 24-year-old male for breaching a condition of a domestic related probation order he was on. It is alleged he was texting a female known to him when he was on conditions not to. He appeared in WASH Court earlier this morning.

28-year-old Michael Paquin of Cathcart St. was arrested by City Police this afternoon for Mischief. It is alleged Mr. Paquin was at a downtown residence when he became involved in an argument with the tenant he was visiting. The situation escalated to where the accused broke the window of the apartment door. He will be appearing in Provincial Court April 13.

Beginning in late January 2015, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Technological Crime Unit began an online undercover investigation into the distribution of child pornography on the internet from a suspect in the Sault Ste. Marie area. On March 6, 2015, officers form the Technological Crime Unit and Emergency Services Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant on a west end Sault Ste. Marie residence. As a result of this warrant, six computers as well as other pieces of digital media were seized. Ronald Thaddeus Daigle age McFadden Avenue was arrested and charged with one count each of possession of child pornography and making available child pornography. Daigle is to appear in W.A.S.H court on Saturday March 7, 2015.

On February 26, 2015 patrol officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to the City Bus Terminal to investigate a complaint of an older male inappropriately touching a 15-year-old female and inviting her to have sex with him for money. On March 6, 2015 after completing the investigation officers located 57-year-old Norman McMullen of Wellington Street East and arrested him for sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference and procuring juvenile prostitution. McMullen is to appear in W.A.S.H court on Saturday March 7, 2015.

On March 7, 2015 Sault Ste. Marie Police officers arrested a 20-year-old male for breaching his domestic recognizance. The accused was released from domestic bail court on a recognizance with a condition – not to be in contact with the victim (girlfriend). It is alleged that for the past week the accused has had contact with the victim on several occasions. The accused has been charged with two counts of breach of recognizance. The accused is to appear in W.A.S.H court on Saturday March 7, 2015.
