On the 31 May 2014 City police responded to a public complaint regarding a male double riding on an e-bike driving erratically near the LCBO on Bay St. The traffic unit spotted the male and female passenger on the e-bike riding around the mall out onto St Mary’s River Drive. They were observed going through the stop sign without slowing down. The man was pulled over where it was discovered he had been consuming alcohol. A subsequent roadside test led to the man being arrested for consuming over the legal limit when the unit registered a fail. Charged with consuming over the legal limit is Levi Hachey (age 55) of 196 James St. He will be appearing in court on the 30 June 2014 at 9:00 AM.

Police responded to over 65 calls for service overnight including 3 bear calls. It appears the “three legged bear” that police have been dealing with in the city’s east and north ends over the last 2 years now has two cubs. This bear has an old injury but is fully mobile. The mother and cubs were on the hub trail at Third Line and at the Strathclair Field. A concerned citizen placed themselves in significant danger by approaching the mother bear because they thought it was injured. Another bear was also seen in at yard at Queen St. East and Dacey Road.
A 32 year old female is in custody after police were called to a domestic disturbance at 12:50 a.m. She will attend WASH court today charged with assault and mischief for striking her former partner and breaking a window.
