Sault police say they were able to track down a stolen e-bike over the weekend — and arrest the alleged thief.

At around 5 p.m. on Saturday, someone called 911 to report that an e-bike had been stolen from the 200 block of Bay Street.

“Upon arrival, officers began an investigation and were able to identify the vehicle used to steal the e-bike,” says a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Officers attended the registered owner’s address and found the stolen e-bike on the property.”

Daniel Joly, 64, is charged with:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle Under $5,000
  • Mischief to Property
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on August 14, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Joly is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
