Sault Police have charged a 31-year-old man with arson after he allegedly started a small fire in a multi-unit residence.

Police say they responded to a call on Tuesday regarding a damaged doorway at a residence in the 200 block of McNabb Street.

Police say the damage was caused by a small fire, which police developed grounds to believe was intentionally set by the accused, who lived in a unit in the residence.

Officers located the accused on Wednesday and arrested him.

As a result, David Masotti is charged with arson and mischief under $5,000.

He was held for bail court.

Following the bail hearing he was released from custody with a scheduled court date of Sept. 17, 2021.
