Sault man charged with theft

The accused was caught trying to leave a business with items he didn't pay for, police say

Sault Ste. Marie Police say they arrested someone last night for theft after an incident that took place earlier this week. 

Police say they responded to a call around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday of a man who was caught trying to leave a business in the 200 block of McNabb St. with approximately $482 in items he didn't pay for. He was stopped by store security and held until police arrived. 

As a result Ryan St. Jean, 36, was arrested and charged for theft under $5000.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26.
