The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has reached its goal of 100 per cent cooperation with its vaccination policy, a news release issued today states.

“Reaching the previously announced goal ensures all members of the service who interact with the public are vaccinated in accordance with Public Health recommendations and regulations,” the release reads.

The role of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is to uphold public safety for everyone in our community. Following Public Health recommendations is the most effective way to ensure all members are protecting the people they interact with daily.

On or before Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, all active civilian and sworn members declared their vaccination status with Human Resources.

“I am proud of our members and their commitment to not only public safety, but also the safety of their colleagues and the workplace,” says Chief Hugh Stevenson. “Reaching 100 per cent cooperation from all active members speaks to their dedication to this community and confirms we are doing everything we can to protect each other from COVID-19.”

Reaching the previously announced goal ensures all members of the service who interact with the public are vaccinated in accordance with Public Health recommendations and regulations.

“I wish to commend the executive members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Association and Senior Officer’s Association,” adds Chief Stevenson. “The leadership of those members was vital in the Service reaching its vaccination target.”

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Association represents uniform and civilian members. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Senior Officers Association represents executive leadership.
