Sault Ste. Marie Police Service welcomes three new officers to its ranks (3 photos)

Police service has full complement of 135 active and non-active officers

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service recently took to social media to welcome its three newest officers.

Constables Haydon Roy-Peterson, Jenna Havens and Patrick Comfort will be deployed by the police service in the near future.

Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit says that when new officers come back from training at Ontario Police College in southwestern Ontario, they complete a refresher with the SSMPS training services department and receive the equipment they need prior to being placed on duty.

New officers will then work with a 'coach officer' for a number of months afterward.

“They’re not going to a call on their own - obviously they’re new, there’s some on-the-job experience that they need to gain,” Louttit said.

SSMPS currently has a full complement of 135 active and non-active officers within its ranks.
