A 15-year-old high school student is facing assault charges after allegedly punching and kicking another student.

Sault Police say officers responded to a local high school on Dec. 6 at around 1 p.m.

“Officers learned the accused youth had put another student in a headlock, punched, and kicked them,” says a news release issued this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The suspect was later arrested at their residence.

The student, whose identity cannot be published due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Jan. 30.

Police did not identify the high school or the gender of the student.
