26-year-old Mikayla Ouellett has been identified as the victim in last week's fatal crash on Wallace Terrace.

A 26-year-old pregnant woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on Wallace Terrace last week.

Sault Police said today that Mikayla Ouellet was the person killed in a three-vehicle crash at around 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 6.

A memorial service and celebration of life are scheduled for Thursday, according to an obituary posted by Ouellet's family.

"She was the shining light in the room, she stood by what she believed in and followed her strong values," the obituary reads. "She protected and defended the ones she loved. She was funny, sarcastic and had the most beautiful smile. Her long hair was her trademark, and you could see flecks of gold when she stood in the sun. She will never be forgotten. God Bless."

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, which is still investigating the crash, is asking anyone who may have dashcam, doorbell camera or surveillance video of the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision, to contact Traffic Services at (705) 949-6300, ext. 382.

Police say last week that the initial investigation revealed that a Ford pickup was eastbound on Wallace Terrace, east of Allens Side Road, when it crossed the centre line and struck a westbound delivery van and a westbound Chevrolet pickup.

The Ford pickup then left the roadway and rolled onto its passenger side. The driver of that pickup had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Ouellet, who was driving the Chevrolet pickup, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the delivery van was not injured.

Donations in Ouellet's memory can be made to the ALS Society of Canada https://als.ca/, T.A.A.G. https://animalassistancegroup.com/, or The Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society https://ssmhumanesociety.ca/.
