SIU seeks witnesses to 'interaction' involving Sault Police officers

Ontario's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is seeking members of the public who witnessed an 'interaction' involving officers with Sault Ste. Marie Police Service that left an individual seriously injured.

The incident took place Sept. 24 at about 3:30 a.m. in an alley behind Beverley Street. 

SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette informed SooToday via email that no further details on the investigation are available at this time. 

The SIU is an independent civilian law enforcement agency that conducts criminal investigations into matters involving police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.

Witnesses to the incident can submit information to SIU by filling out an online form.
