Somebody stands accused of stealing Sherbourne snowblower

On Jan. 24 officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23-year-old Derek Battagin of James Street in relation to a break and enter and theft.

It is alleged that on Jan. 19, 2017 the accused attended a property on Sherbourne Street and took a snow blower valued at $900 from the property. 

Later, on Jan. 24, 2017 the accused is alleged to have entered a house in the 300 block of Northland Road and stolen several tools and other items with a total value of just under $1,000.

Officers located the accused on Jan. 24 as a result of a traffic stop and he was taken into custody. Mr. Battagin has been charged with;

  • 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • 1 count of theft under $5,000
  • 1 count of break and enter

He will appear in court on Feb. 27, 2017.
