Sault Police say a man tried to leave a local business yesterday without paying for an item — then assaulted a security guard when he was confronted.

Police say the incident happened Monday at around 5:10 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road.

“The victim sustained minor physical injuries,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The stolen item was recovered and returned to the business.”

Daniel Solomon, 41, is charged with robbery. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Nov. 18, 2024.

The allegation has not been tested in court and Solomon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
