Police were called last evening to assist a hiker who had become lost on a trail in the Connor Road/Landslide Road area.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that officers responded to the call at approximately 10 p.m. and located the stranded hiker about two hours later.

No injuries were reported.

"We want to remind everyone to use caution while exploring hiking trails and parks in and around our community," the release states. "Do not wander off marked and approved trails, only hike on trails suitable to your skill level, make sure to let someone know where you are going and how long you anticipate you will be there and if you have a cell phone, ensure it is fully charged."
