Arrests/Charged Persons: 

On April 28, 2013 at approximately 4:00 am officers attended in the area of Algoma Avenue regarding a break and enter to a residence.  The occupant of the residence woke up to find a male subject in the kitchen. The culprit fled the residence.  The canine unit attended and a short time later the accused was located in the area of Gladstone Avenue.  The male had entered a second residence in the area.  Property was recovered by police. Dwayne Antonio Guy age 46 of 49 Borron Avenue was arrested and charged with break and enter and commit theft, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and breach of probation X 2.  The accused appeared in WASH court (weekend and statutory holiday court) this morning. The accused was remanded to the Algoma Remand and Treatment Center and will appear in bail court on Monday the 29th of April at 10:00am.

Mischief to vehicle – a vehicle in the 100 block of Sackville Road had the windows smashed out over night.

Last night at approximately 4:00 am in the area of Cabot Crescent, the complainant heard the car alarm activate and found the passenger side window smashed out. Unknown if anything was taken.

Theft from a vehicle in the 100 block of Sackville Road. Taken was a double barrel shot gun. The incident occurred between 11:00 pm and 07:00am.

Theft from a vehicle in the 700 block of Korah Road.  Taken from the vehicle was a stereo, cigarettes and money.

Theft from a vehicle in the 300 block of Langdon Road.  A GPS was taken.

Earlier release:

21 year old Kristi-Lee Burch of Heyden Ontario was arrested by City Police officers last evening and charged with stealing a credit card and using the stolen credit card. It is alleged that between February the 1st to the 25th the accused stole and used a credit card and charged over $4,000.00 to the card. She will be appearing in Provincial Court on the 27th of May.

On the 27th of April officers attended to a store located on Great Northern Rd. regarding a theft complaint. Their investigation revealed that 21 year old Roy MCMullen of Church Street was alleged to have stolen 2 packs of AA batteries and left the store without paying for them. He was subsequently charged with theft and will be appearing in Court on the 27th of May.

In the early evening of April 27th City Police received a complaint of an erratic driver in the east end. Information came in that the vehicle was all over the road and driving up onto the curbs. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and its driver and conducted a roadside breathalyzer test. The female driver failed this test and was subsequently brought into the Police Station to perform a further test. As a result 51 year old Lisa Derrer of Madeline Street was charged with operation of a motor vehicle having over 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. She will also be appearing in Court on May 27th.
