Traffic charge:
City Police attended to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Willow Ave. and McNabb St. at 11:30 a.m. on January 27th. A 2011 white BMW, driven by Lu Zeng of 34 Palace Dr. was proceeding west on McNabb St. when he failed to stop for the red light at the intersection. As a result Mr.Zeng’s vehicle collided with a 2005 blue Dodge Caravan driven by Erin Brown, which was proceeding south on Willow Ave. Ms. Brown was transported to the Sault Area Hospital with minor injuries. Mr.Zeng was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Disobey Red Light – Fail to Stop.
Arrests
On January 26 2013 police observed a vehicle go through a red light at Wellington and John St. When stopped by police it was noted that the driver was wearing hockey skates as he was on his way to a hockey rink. The driver was on an undertaking with a condition of not to consume alcohol and it was noted by the officer that there was an odor of alcohol on his breath. 45 year old Derek Lepage of 397 Northland Rd was arrested and charged with Breach of an Undertaking. He is to appear in court on March 4 2013.
Probation breach:
On the 26th of January 22 year old Hannah Harvey of 99 Letcher St. was checked by police on Albert St. near Blucher St. A records check showed that she was on probation with a condition of not to be in that area. There was also a warrant requested for a similar occurrence on the 25 of January. She was arrested and charged with two counts of breach of probation. She is to appear in court on March 4 1013.
RIDE:
49 year old William Wiljanen of Plymouth Michigan was stopped by the RIDE program in front of the Casino on Bay St. A roadside screening device was administered and a failure was registered. He was arrested and charged with drive over 80 mg. He is scheduled to appear in WASH court today.
35 year old Tammy Lynn Odber of 30 Lake St. Echo Bay Ontario was stopped by the RIDE program on Second Line. A roadside screening device was administered and a failure was registered. She was arrested and charged with drive over 80 mg. She is scheduled to appear in court March 4 2013.
Outstanding warrants
42 year old Gerard Turner and 32 year old Laura Waboose were arrested by Sault OPP on outstanding warrants from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The warrants were for failing to appear court on outstanding charges. They both will be attending WASH Court today.
