On the morning of July 27, 2014 the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter in progress.  A homeowner in the 100 block of Fourth Line W called reporting that 2 persons had broken into his residence.  The homeowner attempted to apprehend the suspects and a struggle ensued.  The suspects were able to flee the residence.  Responding officers were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects a short distance from the residence.  20 year old Kaitland Rathbone-Laforge of no fixed address is charged with Break and Enter and commit the indictable offence of theft, possession of stolen property under $5000 and breach of probation.  She will be appearing in bail court July 28, 2014 at 10:00am. The second suspect is still at large and the investigation is continuing.

Thefts

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received reports that overnight unlocked vehicles were entered on Nelson Street, Bitonti Crescent and Eagle Drive.  Identification and cash were taken.

On the 27th of July city police officers were doing RIDE checks on Lyons Avenue. At approximately 1:45 a.m. the officers checked 29-year-old Michael Didonato of North Street. Mr. Didonato failed a roadside check, was arrested for Over 80 mg and transported to the city police station for breath tests. As a result, Mr Didonato was charged with operate a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol and will appear in court on August 25.
