Suspect arrested near scene of Albert Street break-in

Police have charged Brendan Gignac after officers responded to a call regarding a break and enter in the 400 block of Albert Street East yesterday afternoon shortly before 2 p.m.

A news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that the 40-year-old accused was located in the area of the break-in and was "placed under investigative detention."

"Officers continued the investigation and determined the accused had entered the building, but no property has been reported missing."

Following his arrest, Gignac was held in custody to await a bail hearing and stands charged with break and enter, and breach of probation.
