A 911 call from a local business has led to a theft charge against a 43-year-old man.

Around 10:30 Monday morning, a theft was reported at a business in the 200 block of McNabb Street.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded and found the suspect, who had been taken into custody by security at the business.

Police say that an investigation revealed that a person attempted to leave the business without paying for $854.23 worth of goods.

As a result, Christopher Blair, 43, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.

Blair was released on an undertaking and will appear in court in late-October.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Blair is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
