Reminder From City Police

The City Police would like to remind citizens not to leave valuables in their vehicles. Yesterday City Police received 9 reports of vehicles being entered and items stolen. 8 of the incidents were in Millcreek Subdivision, 1 on Softwood Drive and another on Hardwood Drive. In these situations the vehicles were unlocked. Items taken include change, a pair of binoculars, CD’s, sunglasses and some lottery tickets. In one of the vehicles in Millcreek the driver’s seat had been urinated on. Don’t make your vehicle an easy target for would be thieves. Lock it, park it in a garage if possible, leave outside lights on or install motion sensor lights in the driveway area. Don’t leave items visible or of value in your vehicle. In the past reports of be received of wallets and contents being stolen. Once a thief has your Social Insurance Number, your licence and credit cards you make it easy to become a victim of identity theft. Protect yourself and take these items into the residence you are going into.


Theft Charges Laid

28-year old Daniel Miller of 206-222 Albert Street East will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening. It is alleged that on the 26th of April the accused stole 2-40 ounce bottles of alcohol from the LCBO store in the Station Mall with a value of just over $60. The accused was on probation at the time with terms to keep the peace and be good. The accused was arrested last evening and has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and 2 counts of breach of probation.

Threatening to Cause Death
31-year old Daniel Vincent Pine of 52 Eagle Street, Garden River was arrested yesterday morning by Anishinabek Police Service on an outstanding warrant held by the City Police in regards to a threat that had been allegedly made by the accused towards a female teenager known to him. The threat was made over the phone to the victim. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident. A threat had been made in February and the warrant was executed yesterday. Mr. Pine was turned over to the City Police. Mr. Pine has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. The accused will appear in court on June 6th.

Youth Charged With Theft Under $5,000

A 15-year old youth was arrested yesterday morning after it is alleged that the accused stole a Acer computer around April 7th and 8th and a Samsung DVD player on April 25th from a local centrally located high school that the youth attends. The youth has been charged with 2 counts of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on June 7th.
