A break and enter was reported to yesterday to a residence in the 300 block of Prentice Avenue. The resident indicates it occurred between the 17th and 24th of August. Items taken include change and a jewelry box containing miscellaneous jewellery, gold earrings and wedding rings.
An overnight break in was reported yesterday by a resident in the 300 block of Franklin Street. A jewellery box full of various jewellery was taken.
Also yesterday, a resident on Adelaide Street reported their home entered at some point overnight. At the time of officers attending it was not known what was taken.
On Wednesday morning, August 27, officers attended Scale Meats on Wellington Street East regarding a break and enter. During the overnight hours the business was entered and several items from within the store were taken including cash, a television, an HP laptop, Rada cutlery knife sets, and other miscellaneous items.
On August 27, 2014, city police responded to the Canadian Tire store on Great Northern Road. It is alleged that a male tried to steal items from the business. He was observed by store security who called the police. The man took off running and after a short foot pursuit was arrested by the police. He was found to be on three separate probation orders. The man was also wanted from another theft incident on the 13 August 2014. Jody Edwards is charged with 2 counts of theft under $5,000 and breach of probation x 7. He will be appearing in bail court on August 28, 2014 at 10 a.m.
On August 27, 2014 a man turned himself in to the city police. He was wanted for threatening to burn down the house and businesses of a local family. He was on a probation order at the time and subsequently wound up breaching two of his release conditions. Ernest Caputo (age 45) will be appearing in court on September 29, 2014. He is charged with threatening property, and breach of probation x 2.
