Bomb Threat
At approximately 7:30 a.m. today, City Police were dispatched to a bomb threat at H.M. Robbins Public School, located at 83 East Balfour Street.
Police attended and completed a search of the school. Nothing suspicious was located during the search and school went on as regularly scheduled.
The Police are continuing their investigation into this matter and would like to advise those who might consider taking part in such pranks that they are subject to criminal charges for their actions and liable for imprisonment up to two years.
72-Yr Old Charged With Assault
At approx. 7:00 Pm last night City Police were called to a downtown address regarding an assault. It is alleged that the complainant was assaulted by his common-law wife. The assault consider of being slapped and choked. As a result the accused a 72-year-old female was charged with Assault. She will be appearing in court on Monday March 27th at 9:00 AM.
Disturbance At The Bank Of Nova Scotia
At approx. 3:30 PM yesterday afternoon City Police were called to the Bank of Nova Scotia at the Zellers Plaza, 248 Northern Ave., regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke to witnesses and involved persons and subsequently arrested 57-year-old Linda Shier, of 1246 Sailor’s Encampment, St. Joseph’s Island.
It is alleged that Ms. Shier assaulted a female known to her and then caused a disturbance by yelling and swearing. Ms. Shier is charged with Assault and Cause a Disturbance and will be appearing in court on Monday Mar. 27th at 9:00 AM.
Police Tend To Vehicle In Snow Bank & Find Cocaine
At approx. 2:45 AM this morning City Police officers were called to Bennett Blvd. Regarding a vehicle into a snow bank. Investigation by the officers led to the attendance of the police canine unit and a subsequent search of the vehicle. As a result of the search City Police officers located approx. 2 ounces of cocaine.
Charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking is: Brian Peter Ayotte, age 22, of 54 Dauphine Dr. Mr. Ayotte will be appearing in court on Monday March 27th at 9:00 AM.
Attempted Break And Enter
In other news City Police are investigating an attempted Break and Enter to the Algoma Physical Rehabilitation Clinic at 473 Queen St. E. No entry was gained and nothing was stolen.
Police Attend Car Fire
The City Police and Fire Department were called to an address in the 600 block of Third Line W. early this morning regarding a car on fire. The car, a Ford Taurus, was completely burned in the incident. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire department.
