Impaired Driver
Early this morning City Police were called to attend at a single motor vehicle collision on Church St. Investigation by the officers showed that 19-year-old Tyler Seguin, of 916 Frontenac St. was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Seguin’s vehicle struck a utility pole when he was unable to negotiate a turn from eastbound Queen St.E. to northbound Church St. Mr. Seguin will be appearing in court on Monday Aug 28th on charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs.
Disturbance
Yesterday morning City Police were called to an address on Albion St. regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival officers were informed that the accused kicked and punched a male victim causing bruises, cuts, scrapes and swelling to the victim’s head, face and body. Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm is 20-year-old Darrell Morine of 277 Northern Ave. Mr. Morine, who had been drinking at the time, will still be appearing in court on Monday Aug 21st at 9:00 AM.
Theft Over $5000.00
The Sault Ste Marie Police Fraud Office arrested a 22-year-old male yesterday and charged him with: Theft Over $ 5,000.00, Fraud and Uttering Forged Documents. The offences took place between July 2004 and November 2005. The accused is alleged to have defrauded his employer, a local hardware company, of approx. $ 25,300.00 by writing false return invoices. Charged is Brandon Gagne, age 22, of 61A Elmwood Ave. He will be appearing in court on Monday Aug21st at 9:00 AM.
Stolen Computers Recovered
Last evening, at approx. 7:30 PM City Police investigated two youths on Albert St.E. The two youths were seen carrying computers and software equipment. Investigations by the officers revealed that the computers had been stolen from a break and enter. The two youths were each charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and will be appearing in court on Tuesday Aug 29th at 9:30 AM.
Break & Enters
City Police received five reports of break and enters in the past 24 hours. Entries were reported to the following locations:
1. In the 700 block of Lakeshore Rd. a garage was entered.
2. In the 100 block of Manitou Dr. the side door window was broken to gain entry. Culprits stole electronic equipment and some CD’s.
3. In the 300 block of Old Goulais Bay Rd. Culprits stolen cash and jewellery.
4. In the 1300 block of Fourth Line E. the rear patio door was forced. Stolen were a DVD player, a camera and a bicycle.
5. Entry to the offices of the Ontario March of Dimes located at 550 Queen St. E. was gained by forcing a rear door. Once inside the thieves stole 6 laptop computers.
Motor Vehicle - Bike Collision
Yesterday afternoon at approx. 1:30 PM City Police were called to investigate a motor vehicle – bicycle collision on Foster Dr. In the incident a bicycle operator lost control of her bike, while riding down a wooden ramp, and rode into the path of the car on Foster Dr. Police are still investigating the incident. The bicycle operator was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
