On June 26, 2014 at approximately 5:10 a.m. officers attended at the Mac’s Mart on Wellington Street West in response to a male attempting to steal cigarettes. Police attended and apprehended the accused a short distance from the store.

On June 26, 2014 at approximately 5:10 a.m. officers attended at the Mac’s Mart on Wellington Street West in response to a male attempting to steal cigarettes. Police attended and apprehended the accused a short distance from the store. It is alleged that the accused stole a package of cigarettes. The accused Joshua Jarek Fogg, age 28 of no fixed address was arrested for theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on July 28, 2014 at 9. am. The accused was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

On June 26, 2014 officers arrested a male 18 years of age regarding a domestic dispute that occurred on June 25, 2014.  It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the throat. The accused was charged with assault. The accused will appear in bail court on June 27, 2014 at 10 a.m.

On June 26, 2014 an accused male age 43 was arrested by officers of the Technological Crime Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and charged with internet luring. It is alleged that between February 1, 2014 and June 14, 2014 the accused initiated a friendship on Facebook with a child under the age of 16 years. Inappropriate conversation and photos were exchanged. A warrant was executed and electronic equipment was seized. The accused will appear in bail court on June 27, 2014 at 10 a.m.

On June 26, 2014 Sault Ste. Marie police were on patrol in the area of Gloucester Street and observed a male known to police. A check revealed the male to have an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. The accused Dylan Richard Daigle age 18 of no fixed address will appear in court on July 28, 2014 at 9 a.m.

On June 26, 2014 at approximately 1:30 p.m it is alleged that the accused Taylor Dow age 21 was observed entering a vehicle on Dennis Street and steal items from the vehicle. The accused was followed to the Station Mall where she was apprehended and charged with theft and possession of stolen property. The accused was also found to be in possession of tools taken from another location. A check of the accused was done and it was found that she was on probation with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  The accused will appear in bail court on June 27, 2014 at 10 a.m.

Theft from vehicles:

Several vehicles were entered overnight. It is reported that loose change and CD’s were taken.

  • Vehicle entered in the 100 block of Biggings Avenue.
  • Vehicle entered in the 10 block of Granite Street.
  • Vehicle entered in the 30 block of Sharon Crescent.
  • Vehicle entered in the 20 block of Grandhaven Crescent

Animal sightings:

There was a bear sighted in the area of Royal York Blvd., Falldeien Road and Queensgate Blvd. area.

24-year-old Jacques Pellerin of Douglas Street turned himself in to city police last night with regards to an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on May 26 for original charges of theft under $5000 and breaching his probation. He will be appearing in provincial court July 28.  

A 47-year-old male was arrested by city police on June 25 and charged with 11 different domestic related offences dating back to 2013. It is alleged he assaulted his common-law girlfriend on 7 different occasions from March of 2013 to June of this year. He also was charged with 2 counts of threatening death, 1 count of forcible confinement and 1 count of sexual assault, all during the same time period. These offences occurred while the two were living together. The accused will be appearing in bail court later this morning.

In another domestic related incident, a 39-year-old male will be appearing in bail court later this morning as well. It is alleged he forcibly entered the residence of his estranged wife to gather belongings. He was subsequently charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house.
