On March 2 at approximately 4 p.m. city police attended to Food Basics on Pine Street regarding a male shoplifter.

On March 2 at approximately 4 p.m. city police attended to Food Basics on Pine Street regarding a male shoplifter. Further investigation revealed the accused allegedly left the store without paying for some personal items and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear court.19-year-old Kenneth Hunt of Digby Crescent was subsequently charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to attend court, and will be appearing in Provincial Court April 4.

On March 2, two males were observed by Walmart security officers allegedly conceal several packages of men’s razor blades and leave the store without paying. Security officers approached the males who in turn fled the area but were eventually apprehended. Upon police arrival it was learned these males were from Lithuania and also in possession of a rental car from Toronto. As a result, the two males have been charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending at the time of this report. The two accused will be appearing in Bail Court on March 3.
