On April 30, 2014 police responded to an incident in the Wellington Street West area involving the accused and a female known to her. A verbal argument ensued and it is alleged that the accused punched the victim in the face. A jewelry box was then allegedly damaged by the accused and the victim was then allegedly threatened by the accused. Police located the accused on May 1, 2014 in the Cameron Street area. The accused, Margaret Elizabeth Richer, age 44 of St. Georges Avenue, was arrested for assault, threatening death and mischief under $5000. The accused will appear in bail court on May 2, 2014 at 10 a.m.
44-year-old Scott Dunseath, of Gillies Street, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged that on May 1 2014 the accused located a purse in a bus shelter on John St. and instead of returning the purse the accused searched the purse and stole approximately $65 from it. The money was allegedly located on the accused after he was searched. He is now scheduled to appear in court on June 9, 2014.

25-year-old Joshua Vanatta was arrested by city police on April 30 for threatening, assault and breach of probation. It is alleged Mr. Vanatta became involved in an argument with a male person known to him. The victim was in the bathroom of his residence and the accused forced the door open and assaulted the victim by kicking and punching him in the face as well as threatening to kill him. He will be appearing in bail court later this morning.
On the 30th of April at approximately 12:55 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a Wellington Street West address. Several prohibited weapons, including Nunchaku sticks and a blow gun, ammunition as well as Marihuana and codeine pills were confiscated. 32-year-old Jacob Carter of that address was charged with 4 counts of possession of prohibited weapons, 3 counts of possession of Narcotics, one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking as well as 5 counts of breaching a recognizance in relation to not possessing weapons or ammunition. Mr. Carter will be appearing in bail court as well.
