Update on West End Home Invasion

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Services Unit along with the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing the investigation into a Home Invasion in the 200 Block of Rossmore Road on May 13th of this year.

Detectives are currently following up on tips which have been provided by members of the public and at this point the investigation has revealed that this was not a random incident.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance with any observations they may have made.  Investigators have and interest in information pertaining to a vehicle described as a smaller grey or silver compact car that may have been in the west end of the city between the blocks of  Peoples Road and Farewell Terrace on Monday 13thMay, 2013 between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm.   Two male suspects are described as 6ft tall slim build wearing dark clothing the second male also dressed in dark clothing approximately 5’8” medium build.  Both were wearing dark coloured hats.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service as soon as possible.

22 year old William Trent Trudeau of 38 Black Creek Road in Batchewana First Nation was turned himself in to police on an outstanding warrant.  It is alleged that on April 22 2013 Mr. Trudeau failed to attend court on charges of assault and mischief.  He was given a new court date of June 172013.

A 16 year old female was arrested and will be appearing in bail court tomorrow.  It is alleged that on May 16 2013 at approximately 9:30 a.m., the accused was confronted by her mother about fighting with her siblings.  The accused became verbally abusive and was asked to leave the home.  She then started hitting her mother about the head and shoulders with her fists.  When the mother went to call police the young person left the house but stopped on her way out to kick a door, causing the door frame to break.  The young person was arrested a short distance from the home.  It was also found that at the time of these offences she was on a recognizance to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She will be appearing in bail court tomorrow charged with assault, mischief and breach of recognizance.

A 37 year old female was arrested as a result of a domestic dispute.  The accused was on probation as a result of a domestic violence conviction on her partner.  One of the conditions of that order was that she not attend at the residence of her ex-partner.  It is alleged that on May 15 2013 she attended at her ex- partner’s residence.  She will be appearing in bail court tomorrow charged with breach of probation.

A transport trailer parked in the 100 block of White Oak Driver was broken into overnight.  It is reported that between 9:00 p.m. May 15 and 8:00 a.m. May 16 unknown persons forced the doors open.  It is unknown what if anything was stolen from the trailer.

A break in was reported in the 300 block of Patrick Street.  Sometime between May 15 2013 at 3:00 p.m. and May 16 2013 at 10:30 a.m., unknown person or persons kicked in the back door of a house and stole some tools and wire. 

Sometime between May 10 and May 12 2013, a break in occurred to an apartment in the 100 block of Wellington St. West.  Entry was gained through a window and an HP laptop computer was stolen.

Sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on May 16, a break in occurred in the 900 block of Third Line West.  A rock was thrown through a window to gain entry and a laptop and some jewelry were stolen.

News Release – May 15, 2013 – 5:30pm – 5:30am

Arrests/Charged Persons: 

On May 15 2013 at approximately 8:00pm a female entered the LCBO store at the Station Mall and allegedly selected 3 bottles of Vodka and placed thin in a bag and left the store without paying. The accused was apprehended outside the store by a loss prevention officer. Officers arrested the accused and a check revealed outstanding warrants. The accused Ashley Mary Paul, age 25 stands charged with theft under $5000 X 2 and failing to re-attend court.  The accused will appear in court on June 17, 2013 at 9:00 am.

On May 15, 2013 a complaint was received by City Police regarding an accused breaching two different court orders that involved past domestic matters.  It is alleged that on May 12, 2013 the accused contacted her ex-boy friend by texted messages and telephone calls when the accused was not suppose to.  On May 15, 2013 the accused continued to breach the court orders by calling and texting two different persons named in the orders.  The accused age 43, is charged with breach of probation X 3 and breach of undertaking X 2.  The accused will appear in Bail Court on May 16, 2013 at 10:00am.

On May 16, 2013 police were called by US customs regarding a male trying to enter Sault Ste. Marie Michigan but a check revealed an outstanding warrant for breach of probation.  The accused was returned to Canada Customs and police arrested the accused.  Tyler John Lucente age 20 of 550 Boundary Road will appear in court on June 17, 2013 at 9:00am.

On May 16, 2013 at approximately 1:22 am police stopped a 2001 red Saturn on Bloor Street West. The driver of the vehicle Leslie James Nicholson age 23 was found to be a prohibited driver province wide.  Police observed open beer in the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed 83 grams of marihuana, 2 tablets of ecstacy and a small amount of cannabis resin (hash oil).  The accused stands charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance and prohibited driving.  The accused will appear in Bail Court May 16, 2013 at 10:00am.

On May 16, 2013 at approximately 1:46 am police located a vehicle to locate driving in an erratic manner on Pine Street.  The driver was arrested for impaired driving.  Further investigation revealed that the accused had consumed over the legal limit of alcohol. The accused Eric Norman Nothing age 38 of 68 Eagle Drive, Garden River Ontario is charged with impaired driving and consuming over the legal limit. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2013 at 9:00am
