Numerous Charges Laid Against Male

A 46-year old male was arrested yesterday morning after City Police received a complaint earlier this week from the accused’s ex-girlfriend. Between the dates of May 15th and 17th the accused contacted the victim by phone, as well as showing up at the victim’s address on a couple of occasions. On one of those occasions the accused entered the victim’s home without knocking or being invited in. The accused was on a release document with conditions during these incidents. The accused also threatened to harm the victim and her family. The accused has been charged with 7 counts of breach of a release document, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of unlawfully in a dwelling house. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Drug Bust

Last evening members of the Joint Forces Drug Unit assisted by members from the City Police’s Street Team executed a search warrant at an Albert Street West apartment. Officers seized 135 plants, 71 of which were full-grown. Officers also located 5 grams of cannabis resin as well. The drugs seized have a street value of just over $103,000. Officers also seized various pieces of equipment that were being used to grow the narcotics, such as lights, heaters and fans. 40-year old Reiner Philippi of 12-151 Albert Street West has been charged with 2 counts of production of a controlled drug or substance, 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The accused will appear in court on June 20th.

Impaired Driving

Just after midnight this morning City Police had occasion to stop 53-year old Bruce Goodchild of Heron, Ontario while he was driving his car on Albert Street East in the 100 block. When officers spoke to the accused they noted Mr. Goodchild had been drinking. The accused was arrested and then refused to provide a breath sample. The accused has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath sample. He will appear in court on June 27th.

Male Charged with Impaired Driving

25-year old Robert Zagorc of 818 Allen Side Road was arrested shortly before 3 am this morning. Officers observed Mr. Zagorc driving his truck northbound on lower Pim Street the wrong way. Mr. Zagorc was traveling northbound when only southbound traffic is allowed. When officers stopped the vehicle the accused showed signs of impairment. Mr. Zagorc has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on June 20th.

Sexual Exploitation

Officers from the Investigation Services Section arrested a 30-year old male yesterday and charged him with 2 counts of sexual exploitation. It is alleged that the male had sexual intercourse with a 15-year old female. The incidents occurred between May of 2004 and May of 2005. The name of the accused is not being released as it may identify the victim as they are related.


Break and Enter

Yesterday afternoon thieves broke into a home in the 100 block of West Street and took off with some jewellery and a DVD player.
