City Police received a number of reports of break and enters yesterday:
1) Sometime between 10pm on the 28th of November and 7am on 29th on November a home on Andrew Street was entered. PS2 games, a Nintendo game and an Xbox were taken.
2) Sometime between the 3 of November and the 27th of November a home on John Street was broken into. It is unknown what was taken at this time.
3) Just after 1 am on the 29th of November Grandview Public School was broken into. $150 in cash was taken.
4) Between 10am and 3pm on the29th of November a home on Douglas Street was broken into. A DVD player and DVD videos were taken.
5) Just before 3 am this morning city Police responded to a break and enter at Sir James Dunn. The thieves had already left upon Police arrival. Taken were a number of computers. Anyone with information on this break and enter is asked to contact the city police at 949-6300 or crime stoppers.
Two Males Arrested After Break & Enter
City Police arrested two males yesterday after they broke into a residence in the downtown area. It’s believed that 28-year-old Bertie Mattinas of 321 George Street and 19-year-old Flint Mattinas of 864 Queen Street East entered a residence shortly after 2pm by smashing a patio door then entering and taking a television. The two males were arrested just after 4pm at the station mall after mall security called advising there was an intoxicated male to be removed. Shortly after police arrived it was determined that the males were responsible for the break and enter. Both males were charged with 1 count each of Break and Enter, and 1 count each of Possession of Stolen Property. Both males are to appear in court on January 8th.
One Count of Assault with a Weapon & Breach
A 42-year-old male was arrested yesterday morning at approximately 11am after he contacted police to turn himself in. It’s believed that the accused did assault his common-law partner by hitting her earlier that morning. Police were called at the time but the accused had left the residence. The male has been charged with 1 count of Assault with a weapon and 1 count of Breach of release document as the accused was on conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim.
Breach and Drug Charges
Just after 1am this morning City Police observed a male walking on Albert Street West. A check of that male revealed that he was on a Youth Criminal Justice Act probation order with a curfew of 10pm. The 18-year-old male was arrested and a search revealed the male was in possession of a small amount of marihuana. The accused was also on probation order not to possess non-prescribed drugs. The male has been charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Drug and 2 counts of Breach of Probation Order. The male is to appear in court on the 2nd of January.
