On October 21, 2015 a 28-year-old female was arrested on an outstanding warrant by the Batchewana Police Service. The female was then turned over to city police and the warrant was executed. The accused is charged with unlawfully at large and breach of probation. The charges stem from domestic related matters that had already been dealt with in court. The accused was given an intermittent sentence and failed to report to the jail at the required time. The accused will appear in bail court on October 22, 2015 at 10 a.m.
On October 21, 2015 three males were arrested for several property related charges. Investigation revealed that the three males had conspired with one another to attend at a local east end store and steal groceries. It is alleged that they then carried out their plan and entered a store and stole groceries. A store employee followed the three to a vehicle and found packages of meat under a vehicle. Police were notified and able to identify the vehicle the three left in. Further investigation was done and it was found that the three males allegedly attended another store and stole more groceries. Police arrested the three males at a local residence and charged them with theft under $5,000 x 2, possession of property obtained by crime X 2 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Two of the accused were also on court ordered conditions to keep the peace and be of good behviour and they were charged with breach of probation. All three males will appear in bail court on October 22, 2015 at 10 a.m.
On October 22, 2015 at approximately 2:51 a.m., city police located a young person, age 17 in the area of Allard Street. A check of the young person was done and it was found that there were outstanding warrants in place. The accused was arrested on the warrants. Charges include assault with a weapon, breach of probation and failing to attend court. The accused will appear in bail court on October 22, 2015 at 10 a.m.
