On September 2, 2015 patrol officers completed an investigation into a west end domestic incident. At 11:40 a.m. police arrested a 21-year-old male for various offences against his 19-year-old girlfriend.

On September 2, 2015 patrol officers completed an investigation into a west end domestic incident. At 11:40 a.m. police arrested a 21-year-old male for various offences against his 19-year-old girlfriend. It is alleged that over the last year the accused had several domestic incidents with the victim. On three occasions the accused assaulted the victim. On one occasion the accused broke into the victim’s apartment by kicking in the door. On another occasion the accused prevented the victim from leaving her apartment and confined her to a locked bathroom. The accused has been charged with three counts of assault, break and enter, mischief, and forcible confinement. The accused will appear in bail court on September 3.

On September 2, 2015 patrol officers completed an investigation into two thefts of vehicles on August 1, 2015. It is alleged that the 17-year-old male young offender stole a vehicle from Industrial Park Court. The offender drove this stolen vehicle to a lot on Great Northern Road where he smashed it into a tractor causing the tractor to flip on its side. The offender than drove the stolen vehicle out to Aweres Township and caused the vehicle to get stuck in a ditch. The offender than attended a driveway of a residence in Aweres and stole another vehicle. The offender drove this vehicle back to the area of Industrial Park Court where it broke down. At the time of the offences the offender was on probation orders with various conditions. The offender has been charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle, mischief, and two counts of breach of probation. The offender will appear in bail court on September 3.

On September 3, 2015 at 2:20 a.m., police arrested 42-year-old Lawrence Gatza of Ferguson Avenue. It is alleged that in the early morning hours the accused was trying car doors in the east end of the city looking for unlocked vehicles. When the accused found an unlocked vehicle he would search the interior and steal any items of value. At this time the accused was found in possession of a stolen iPod and women’s purse. The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. The accused will appear in court on October 5. This investigation is continuing.
