Traffic stop leads to charges for two Saultites

Police found drugs and over $6000 in Canadian currency in the accused's vehicle

On May 30, 2020 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit arrested 28-year-old Robert Bell and 28-year-old Brandon Rowat during a traffic stop.

At 1:24 a.m. officers observed a truck travelling on Parliament St fail to stop at a stop sign. A traffic stop was conducted. Mr. Bell was a rear passenger in the vehicle and Mr. Rowat was a front passenger.

Officers learned both of the accused were bound by conditions to remain in their residence. Both of them were arrested. A subsequent search of the area of arrest found Mr. Rowat to be in possession of a 0.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 15.7 grams of suspected cocaine, 1.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 240 grams of cannabis, bear spray, a digital scale, packaging material and $6230 in Canadian currency.

Mr. Rowat is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, illegal possession of cannabis and three counts of breach of recognizance. He was held for WASH court.

Mr. Bell is charged with two counts of breach of recognizance. He was held for WASH court.
