Traffic stop leads to identity fraud charge

She's also charged with obstruct peace officer

On March 11, 2019, officers with the Patrol Services division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21-year-old Alyssa Colasacco of no fixed address with identity fraud.

It’s alleged on March 10, 2019, the accused was driving a vehicle in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie when a license plate scan revealed the plates weren’t registered to the vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and at that time the accused identified herself as someone else before being told she was free to go.

After investigating further, officers learned her true identity and arrested the accused. She is charged with one count of identity fraud and one count of obstruct peace officer.

She is schedule to appear in court on April 15, 2019.
