Traffic stop leads to serious charges for two Sault men

At 2:30 a.m. on September 4, 2016 City Police conducted a vehicle stop on Manilla Terrace. 

Police observed five barbecues in the vehicle still in boxes. 

Two males in the vehicle were arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property. 

Officers were able to determine that the barbecues were stolen from Propane Plus on Great Northern Road. Also discovered in the vehicle were bolt cutters and a large pry bar. 

One male, 36-year-old Jason Brown of Alexandra Street, initially identified himself with the wrong name and was wanted on outstanding warrants for theft under and breach of probation and a court issued bench warrant. 

56-year-old Dennis Atkinson of Manilla Terrace has been charged with Break and Enter, Possession of break in instruments and possession of stolen property.  He was released and will be appearing in court on October 17, 2016. 

Jason Brown has been charged with personation with intent, Break and Enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break in instruments, two counts of breach of probation, theft under $5,000 and failing to appear for court. He appeared in W.A.S.H. (weekend and statutory holiday) bail court on September 4, 2016 and was remanded for Bail Court on Tuesday September 06, 2016 at 10 a.m.
