Traffic stop results in charges for local woman

On Oct. 1, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 52-year-old Betty Willet of Albert Street West for impaired driving.

It is alleged that just before 1 p.m. the accused was operating a motor vehicle in the area of Peoples Road and Hillside Drive at a high rate of speed.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and found that the accused’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

She was taken into custody and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit.  She will appear in court on Oct. 29, 2018.
