Trafficking and possession charges laid after police respond to complaint

A search of the residence found substances believed to be cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine

After responding to a complaint, Sault Ste. Marie police charged two people with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Substances believed to be cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as two replica handguns and $1,595 in Canadian currency were found in the residence.

On Nov. 18, 2021 officers with Patrol Services charged 22-year-old Irene Mancini and 49-year-old Jason Roy for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Around 8:30 a.m. officers responded to a complaint of someone being denied entry to their residence in the 0-100 block of Chapple Avenue. Upon arrival, officers gained access to the residence and observed suspected controlled substances in plain sight. The two accused were arrested.

A subsequent search found them to be in possession of approximately 23.08 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, approximately 4.86 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, approximately 8.61 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, two replica handguns and approximately $1,595 in Canadian currency. The estimated street value of narcotics seized is $5,599.

Further search located a recumbent tricycle reported stolen on Nov. 5, 2021 worth approximately $4,000.

After identifying Mr. Roy, officers discovered it is alleged on May 6, 2021 in the 0-100 block of Chapple Avenue he had assaulted a victim by pointing a pellet gun at them, shooting them in the chest and stealing a quantity of cash and a cell phone from them.

Ms. Mancini is charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x2
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2

She was held for bail court

Mr. Roy is charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x2
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x3
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Robbery with a Weapon

He was held for bail court.
