Stabbing In East End

City Police are currently investigating a stabbing that took place around 4:30 am this morning in the City’s east end of town. A female victim has been taken to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment for her injuries. Two persons have just been taken into custody (around 6 am) in connection to this investigation. Few details are available at this time as it is an ongoing investigation. Officers from Investigation Services have been called out to assist patrol officers in this matter. Further details will be released later today.

Nine People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) 26-year old Peter Miller of 21 Village Road, Blind River was arrested on the 17th of April in relation to an outstanding warrant for one count of breach of probation.

2) 44-year old Denis Morin of 482 Charles Street was arrested by officers from Investigation Services on the 13th of April and charged with one count of fail to appear for court.

3) A 43-year old male was arrested on the 18th of April and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 16th of April the accused assaulted his common law girlfriend by grabbing her and throwing her against a wall. The incident occurred in their downtown residence.

4) A 19-year old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault and two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on April 12th the accused threatened to kill his girlfriend and her family. It is further alleged that the accused also assaulted the female by pushing her up against a wall. The accused was arrested on the 13th.

5) 18-year old Ernest Solomon of 826 Second Line East was arrested on the 14th of April and charged with breaching his conditional release sentence. The accused had a curfew of 11 pm to 7 am and was located by officers on Great Northern Road at 5 am.

6) A 29-year old male and his 22-year old common law wife were both arrested on the 14th of April after City Police responded to a west end address for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the male struck the female victim on the back of her head a number of times. He was charged with one count of assault. He was on probation at the time of the offence with a number of conditions related to the victim. The male was also charged with two counts of breach of probation.

7) The 22-year old female from the above dispute was charged with three counts of breach of probation and one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the accused struck the victim in the face with a phone.

8) A 28-year old male was arrested and charged on the 15th of April with one count of assault and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that in the evening hours of that date the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law wife in their west end address. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by both her wrists and threatened to kill her.

9) A 18-year old person was arrested on the 17th of April and charged with two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of possession of house breaking tools. On that date around 2:30 am City Police attended at the Kiwedin School located at 735 North Street for a break and enter in progress. Officers entered the school and located the accused person inside of the building. The accused had several items from the school on them as well as a flashlight. The accused was on a probation term from the YCJA as well. Due to the YCJA charges the name of the accused cannot be released.

Cigarette Theft At Petro-Canada

30-year old Peter Goodall of #1-123 Bruce Street was arrested on the 16th of April and charged with two counts of breach of probation, two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 15th of April the accused stole 2 cartons of cigarettes from the Petro-Canada located at 411 Great Northern Road. He fled from the store but was apprehend by City Police on Second Line West across from the City Police Station. Further investigation revealed that the accused stole cigarettes from the Stop and Go Variety Store at 741 Trunk Road on the 15th of April. At the time of both offences the accused was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Mischief At Highland Ford

On the 17th of April City Police attended at Highland Ford regarding mischief to vehicles. It is alleged that someone ran across the top of 20 vehicles leaving dents in the hoods of 12 of them. Two Break And Enters

City Police received 2 reports of break and enters over the long weekend. One was to Kiwedin School in which an 18-year old youth was arrested. Refer to the bail court arrests. Thieves attempted to break into California Crazee Wear located at 372 Queen Street East. Entry was not gained and damage to the business was minimal.

Suspicious Fire On Churchill Avenue

Officers from Investigation Services are currently working on a suspicious fire that occurred on the 16th of April just after 3 am. Officers from Patrol Services were at a call in the area and observed the flames from a shed in a backyard of a home on Churchill Avenue. Officers radioed the Station who contacted Fire Services. The officers also attended at the shed, which is located in the 100 block of Churchill Avenue. The shed was destroyed in the fire.

Fire At Sewage Treatment Plant

Officers from Investigation Services are also working on a suspicious fire that occurred on the 16th of April around 3 am at the Sewage Treatment Plant located at 2221 Queen Street East. The estimated damage of the fire is between $200,000-$300,000. A compressor was burnt as well as two large six-foot diameter pipes, which had melted on the ground. Officers also noted that a pontoon boat in the area also sustained some damage. There is nothing to indicate at this time that the two fires are related.
