Male Charged with Attempted Murder A 42-year old male was taken into custody yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm. City Police attended at an east end residence in regards to a domestic dispute.
Male Charged with Attempted Murder

A 42-year old male was taken into custody yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm. City Police attended at an east end residence in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival patrol officers located a female victim in need of immediate medical attention. The female remains in the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The male has been charged with one count of attempt murder and will appear in bail court this morning. City Police have secured the scene and officers from Investigation Services are continuing their investigation into this attempt murder. More details will be released later this morning.


City Police were busy yesterday with break and enter reports:

1) Just Lubes at 410 Great Northern Road was entered sometime over the weekend and thieves made off with an undisclosed small amount of money.

2) Yesterday morning St. Basil’s Secondary School at 250 St. Georges Avenue East reported the theft of a computer from the principal’s office.

3) A home and garage in the 100 block of Anna Street was entered in the last 4 to 5 days. Several items were stolen and the homeowner is preparing a detailed list.

4) A motor home that was parked in the 100 block of Sackville Road was entered over the weekend and a TV was taken.

5) A shed in the 100 block of Woodhurst Drive was entered overnight on the 14th and a set of golf clubs was taken.

6) Sometime between 11 pm last night and 5:30 am this morning, thieves broke into a vehicle parked in the driveway in the 100 block of Dacey Road. Once in the vehicle thieves used the garage door opener to enter into the garage. 2 dirt bikes were stolen, but one had been recovered at the time of the report. A red and white 1999-250XR dirt bike with a decal missing from the white tank is still missing.

Dumpster Fire

Around 3:30 am this morning City Police and Fire Services attended at the Beaver Fuels at McNabb Street and Pine Street for a dumpster fire. Five minutes later Fire Services and City Police attended in the 500 block of Pine Street after a homeowner reported a tree in their front yard had been set on fire.
