5 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:
1)18-year old Norman Lund of 2-265 St. James Street was arrested on August 1st in the evening hours. On that date officers conducted a query of Mr. Lund and learned that he had failed to notify his change of address from his previous address. Mr. Lund was on a release document with a condition to notify change of address. Mr. Lund has been charged with one count of breach of a release document.
2)28-year old Daniel Miller of 20-864 Queen Street East was arrested yesterday afternoon in the downtown area. It is alleged that Mr. Miller had been inside a downtown restaurant and when he left it was noted that he had a hatchet with him. Officers located Mr. Miller on Pilgrim Street and when he was arrested officers found the hatchet tucked inside the waist of the accused pants. Officers also located a small marijuana cigarette on the accused during the search. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to the public, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of probation.
3)A 17-year old youth was arrested on July 30th in the morning hours after it is alleged that the youth fled a youth facility on Pim Street. The youth was apprehended by staff members who immediately pursued the youth and returned them to the facility. At the time of the offence the youth was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The youth has been charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of escape lawful custody.
4)On the 30th of July in the evening hours City Police attended in the downtown area after a call was received regarding a female and male fighting. It is alleged that a 41-year old male assaulted his common law wife by biting a finger on her hand and by also bending another finger. The accused was on probation at the time of the offence with conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim and to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and 2 counts of breach of probation. The victim sought medical treatment for her injuries.
5)A 34-year old male was arrested on August 1st just after midnight after City Police attended at a centrally located address for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused and the victim got into a verbal argument and the police were called. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim. The accused was on probation at the time of offence with conditions not to be at the same address as his ex-wife as well as conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and 2 counts of breach of probation.
Female Charged with Impaired Driving
40-year old Tina Lapalme of 12 Campbell Avenue was arrested on August 1st just after 10 pm after she was involved in a motor vehicle collision. A car operated by Sylvain Dechamplain of 684 Fourth Line East was northbound on Great Northern Road when a car operated by Tina Lapalme struck it from behind. It is alleged that the accused showed signs of impairment and was subsequently charged with one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of impaired driving. She will appear in court on September 12th. Vehicle damage is described as light to the Dechamplain and moderate to the Lapalme vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Charged with Operationg a Vehicle while Disqualified
43-year old Donna Espaniel of 4-7 Queen Street East was arrested on August 1st just before 10am. Patrol officers stopped the accused while she was operating a motor vehicle in the downtown area. A police query revealed that the accused was a disqualified driver stemming from an impaired conviction. The accused has been charged with one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order. She will appear in court on September 12th.
Male Refused to give Breath Sample
39-year old George Woolsey of 9 Maple Street was stopped on the 31st of July just after 12:30 am during a R.I.D.E. checkpoint in the 400 block of Wellington Street West. The accused was asked to provide a breath sample and refused. He was subsequently charged with fail to provide a breath sample. The accused will appear in court on September 12th.
2 reports of break and enters:
1) On July 30th a homeowner reported that sometime between 11 pm on the 29th and 11 am on the 30th their home in the 400 block of Farwell Terrace was entered. A VCR and a small amount of beer were taken.
2) On the 30th of July a homeowner in the 300 block of John Street reported that sometime over a period of several days thieves entered their home and stole a number of items including pictures, a TV and prescription drugs.
