A 35 year old male was arrested on a warrant regarding a domestic occurrence. It is alleged that on the 28th of April the accused assaulted his ex girlfriend by grabbing her arm, biting her twice on the scalp and throwing her to the ground. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused will be in bail court tomorrow.

24 year old Jordan Morrar of 36 Nichol Ave was arrested on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused failed to complete community service hours as required by his probation order. He will be appearing in court on September 30th.

A 43 year old male was arrested for breaching a release order. It is alleged that on August 27th the accused attended at the residence of his ex wife despite being on conditions to not attend at her place of residence, education or employment. He will be appearing in bail court tomorrow.

A Red and White CCM Bicycle was reported stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Boundary Road over night.

At 12:45 pm today a report was received of a stolen 2009 Dodge Caravan bearing Ontario Plate #BETP 764. The van was taken from an address on Northern Avenue overnight.

Vehicles in the 100 block of Birchland Court and the 100 block of Church Street were reported to have been spray painted over night.

Police seek publics assistance in collision investigation

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in regards to a collision that occurred on Gore St. at approximately 8am on Tuesday August 27, 2013.  An older light coloured sedan was exiting from the lane way that runs beside the Real Estate Stop onto Gore St. when it struck a cyclist that was travelling south on Gore St.  The cyclist received minor injuries.  Police are requesting any witnesses or the driver of the sedan to please contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Traffic Services.

Morning news:

On August 26th, 2013 a 16 yr old female was arrested and charged after turning herself into police on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for court.  She was originally arrested for a break and enter that occurred in the Bellevue Ave area on October 30th, 2012, and subsequently failed to appear for her court date.  She is scheduled to attend court on October 1st, 2013.

On August 26th, 2013 a house in the Clement St. area was damaged after unknown person(s) threw a rock through the front window. 

A residence in the 100 block of Walnut St. was entered shortly after midnight on the 27th of August. Thieves made off with a case of beer.  

City Police attended to a Spruce Street residence in the afternoon of August 26th responding to an incident which had domestic overtones to it. An argument between two males over the well being of a female resulted in a 36 year old male being arrested and charged with several offences. Assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited weapon x 2, possession of marihuana and a breach of a court order were laid at this time. With regards to the assault with a weapon charge, it is alleged the accused pointed an imitation firearm at the victim. He will be appearing in Bail Court on August 27th.

A 42 year old male will also be appearing in Bail Court later this morning after being arrested for domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged he assaulted his common law wife by sitting on top of her and clenching his fist as if to punch her. He also smashed her laptop computer.

In the early evening of August 26th, City Police officers attended to an east end residence, again, for another domestic complaint. A female had been assaulted by her boyfriend at her residence. Both parties required medical attention and both were treated and released. The 24 year old accused was arrested for assault as well as failing to attend court after it was learned that an outstanding warrant was in effect for him for that offence. He will be in Bail Court this morning as well.
