Domestic Dispute
City Police arrested a male early this morning as a result of a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused, a 55-year-old male, assault his common-law partner by pushing her to the floor and choking her. The accused then threatened to kill the victim if she called police. When the City Police did attend they were giving information about a second alleged assault that took place on August 2nd. In that incident the accused reportedly kicked the victim in the face. The victim did not require medical attention as a result of these two assaults. The accused is charged with two counts of Assault and one count of Threatening. He will be appearing in court on Monday Sept. 12th at 9:00 AM.
Mischief at Merrifield School
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating four youths responsible for the mischief caused to Wm. Merrifield School. Last evening, at approx. 9:00 PM, four youths, two on bikes and two walking, were seen spray-painting graffiti on the school walls. Anyone seeing or knowing who was responsible should contact the City Police or Crimestoppers.
Vehicle Mischief
City Police took three reports of mischief to vehicles yesterday. One vehicle, in the 100 block of Cambridge Pl. had a window broken. Another vehicle in the 100 block of Superior Dr. was
spray-painted. In the third incident it is suspected that a car’s rear window may have been shot out with a BB gun. This incident took place in the 200 block of Willow Ave.
Break and Enter
Yesterday evening a resident of the 400 block of Albert St.E. called police to report a Break and Enter. The complainant reports that some time during the day culprits broke a rear window and gained access to her home. Once inside the culprits stole a VCR.
