Threatening Death
A 24-year old male was arrested and charged yesterday with two counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and her son. The accused was on probation with conditions not to communicate with the victim or molest, harass or annoy her as well as to keep the peace and be good. He will appear in bail court this morning.
Youth's Charged Last Night
1) A 17-year old male youth was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of robbery, one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Two 15-year old females were also charged with one count of robbery each. It is alleged that on the 29th of November the three accused persons stole an MP3 player and a digital camera from another youth and assaulted her while stealing the items. All three accused persons and victim are known to each other. It is further alleged that the male accused threatened to harm the victim. At the time of the offence the male accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The male accused will appear in bail court this morning. The two females will appear in court on January 23rd.
2) A 16-year old youth was arrested and charged last evening with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that the accused attempted to leave the West 49 Store in the Station Mall with two belts which were not paid for. The accused was apprehended by security and turned over to police. He will appear in bail court this morning.
3) Shortly after 11 pm last night a homeowner in the 1000 block of Second Line West reported that he had just caught a male breaking into a vehicle in their yard and that the male was hiding in some bushes. Information was also received that a female had been with the male in the area. Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended in the area and with the assistance of Police Dog Tazer the two persons were taken into custody shortly after midnight. During the course of the investigation officers learned that the male accused had two binders with hockey cards and a cordless drill that had been taken from a residence on Anderson Road. Officers recovered the property during the investigation. The two persons were located at an address in the 1000 block of Second Line West. It is alleged that the female had taken the binders from the address on Anderson Road while with the male. This theft occurred just before 11 pm. The16-year old female has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on January 23rd. The 17-year old male has bee charged with one count of trespass by night, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000 and three counts of breach of probation under the YCJA. He will appear in bail court this morning.
4) A 17-year old youth was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the youth had a laptop in his possession that had been stolen from Holy Angels School on Wellington Street East. It is further alleged that officers also located two rings in the possession of the male that belonged to a family member. The accused will appear in court on January 23rd.
Two Females Charged with Assault
1) A 24-year old female was arrested just after 5 pm last night and charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief. It is alleged that the accused broke the window of a vehicle and also assaulted her ex-boyfriend. The accused will appear in court on January 24th.
2) 28-year old Annie Sutherland of 212-27 Terry Fox Place was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that on the 5th of December the accused assaulted an adult female and a teenaged male. The accused and the victims are known to each other. The accused will appear in court on January 22nd.
Possession Charges
48-year old James McKiel of 31 Ferguson Avenue was arrested and charged yesterday with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that officers stopped the accused and during the course of their investigation located approximately .5 grams of cocaine on the accused. The accused will appear in court on January 22nd.
Two break and enters were reported in the last 24-hour period:
1) Yesterday between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm a home in the 600 block of Second Line West was entered. It does not appear that anything was taken.
2) Yesterday between 8 am and 5 pm a home on Henrietta Avenue was entered. A Play Station 2 and games were taken.
Car Accident at Pim and Bruce Street
Yesterday just after 6:30 pm officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Pim Street and Bruce Street for a motor vehicle collision that sent one person to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A green car operated by a 51-year old male was southbound on Pim Street and had stopped to turn left onto Bruce Street. It is alleged that a blue car operated by a 94-year old male was also traveling southbound on Pim Street and struck the rear of the green car. The 51-year old male was taken to the hospital. Damage to the blue car was described as was moderate and the green car was severely damaged. The 94-year old male has been charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
